Sports Physiotherapy
Ensuring that you recover fully from any injury is key to staying fit and active. It’s not just professional athletes who get injured; it is common for injuries to come on suddenly during an activity or sport like a torn muscle or ligament or a joint sprain or fracture. Conditions such as Achilles tendonitis, tennis elbow, and shoulder impingements are all common examples of injuries that appear after the activity and come on more gradually. Acute and chronic injuries often limit your ability to work, enjoy hobbies and even everyday activities. Sports physiotherapy can help you rehabilitate after any injury. Physiotherapists and Sports therapists are accustomed to taking a whole-person approach to their work and can help you get back into your sport without aggravating your injury or causing further damage.
How we provide sports physiotherapy
You can self-refer or your GP or specialist can refer you to any of our services, including our sports physiotherapy services. We always start with an initial consultation where the physiotherapist or sports therapist will discuss your needs and problems. Treatment will commonly include massage, stretches and progressive exercises and may include ultra sound or acupuncture as appropriate. So whether it’s a sudden injury or a long term problem it’s worth getting one of our team to assess it, as the longer you have an injury, generally the longer it takes to resolve!
